NACHO MONREAL has been tied down for a further year at Arsenal to keep him at the club until 2020.
The reliable left-back’s future was up in the air heading towards the summer with his contract running down.
The 32-year-old remains an important member of the Gunners team.
And Unai Emery has been keen to push through a deal to see Monreal extend his stay at the Emirates.
The Spain international joined from Malaga back in January 2013 and has been a top servant for Arsenal.
While talks over a long-term extension have been put on hold for now, Monreal’s immediate future in north London is now secure.
ESPN say Arsenal have confirmed they have triggered a 12-month clause in the player’s contract.
He will not be available on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
And there are plenty of other first-team members whose futures need addressing before the summer.
Veteran goalkeeper Petr Cech and crocked forward Danny Welbeck are two of several players with just six months remaining on their contracts at Arsenal.
Aaron Ramsey is the most high profile star with an expiring contract but he has no intention of signing on now.
Juventus remain frontrunners to land the Welshman on a free at the end of the season.
Stephan Lichtsteiner, meanwhile, also has just six months left, although Arsenal have the option to extend his by a further year too.
