Arsenal will retain the services of Egyptian international Mohamed Elneny this season after rejecting the chance to move across the Premier League.

The Sun states Arsenal accepted a £10m offer from Leicester City for the services of the former FC Basel man but Elneny rejected a move to the Foxes because he loves life in the capital.

25-year-old Elneny faces a battle to secure regular playing time with Arsenal this season as the Gunners boast the talents of Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin, whilst currently injured Santi Cazorla is likely to be ahead of him in the pecking order upon his return.

Leicester could revisit the situation in January and Arsenal may accept a move again, as a £10m bid gives them a profit of around £5m on the man they signed from Switzerland- a decent return considering Elneny’s status within the squad.

The midfielder is currently on-tour in the Far East with the rest of the Arsenal squad and has been played out of position in games so far, including 45 minutes as a central-defender in the victory against Western Sydney Wanderers.
