Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry has been linked with a move to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig this summer, but Schalke 04 director, Christian Heidel, has revealed 17 out of the 18 clubs in the German top flight want the Gunners attacker.
Although the details of Leipzig’s interest in Gnabry are somewhat clear, there are still doubts about it as Arsene Wenger has stated the German is in his plans for this season. However, that does not mean Gnabry will not be allowed to leave Arsenal on loan and could just be one of the ways of the Arsenal manager to make Gnabry put pen to paper on a contract extension beyond next summer.
Gnabry, who did exceptionally well for the German U-23 side at the just concluded Rio Olympics, is wanted by all but one of the Bundesliga sides.
“Except for FC Bayern”, Heidel said.
“17 of 18 Bundesliga clubs want a deal with him.”
Wenger admitted Gnabry will need to regain his confidence after his unsuccessful loan stint at West Brom last season. The German could have regained a bit of that in Rio, but a loan could still do him good.
Gnabry scored six goals for Germany in the Olympic games.
