Arsenal do not seem very active in the winter transfer window but reports suggest that they are planning to seriously reinforce their squad next summer.
Nevertheless, reports in the Italian media (Corriere della Sera) claim that Arsenal are ready to launch the assault and sign Kostas Manolas next summer with Manchester United also keen on him.
Wenger has been looking to sign the former Olympiacos star for a long time now. Last summer, Arsenal were linked to lure Manolas but failed and eventually secured the signing of German star Mustafi.
Kostas is arguably the best defender in the Serie A and therefore Roma would not like to lose him. As far as Arsenal are concerned, their central defense is strong at the moment with Koscielny and Mustafi as the first choice pair.
On the other hand, they have players like Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker to provide cover as well. However, the duo are past their best and Holding is inexperienced. In such a scenario, Wenger must splash the cash to strengthen the back line.
