Just a month after signing his first professional contract with Arsenal, winger Nathan Tormey has suffered a long-term hamstring injury.

Tormey is a boyhood Arsenal fan, and has been at the club ever since joining the u12s. At 17, he signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in July.

After posting earlier this month about training with the first team, Tormey’s latest update on social media is a lot more disappointing. The young winger tweeted that he will be out for six months after tearing his hamstring in training.

Gutted to be out for up to 6 months after tearing my hamstring in training

The player had only recently recovered from what was described by youth expert Jeorge Bird as an “injury nightmare”, but before even getting the chance to show what he could do for the u18s, it seems that his fitness problems have returned.

Last season, Tormey only managed to make one appearance for the u18s. It’s all very disappointing for a teenager described as “technically gifted and pacey” by Arsenal’s official website.

With other youth wingers like Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe shining for the u23s and u18s respectively, Tormey will be hoping that he can do the same before long.

Hopefully the English youngster can make a good recovery and try to be involved with the academy again before the end of the season.
