Portuguese tabloid Noticias ao Minuto is reporting that Arsenal’s initial £20m offer for Algerian striker Islam Slimani has been rejected by Sporting Lisbon.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that he is hoping to bring in another striker after losing England International Danny Welbeck to a serious knee injury for the majority of next season.
Arsenal have been linked with lot of players in recently, most notably is English giant Jamie Vardy, but despite the Gunners proposed £20m move for the Leicester City striker, deal has stalled after he decided to think over his future during the European championship.
Valdy’s decision has left Wenger looking for alternative targets, just in-case Vardy decides to remain at the King Power stadium and it appears his search has taken him to Portugese side Sporting Lisbon, as Noticias ao Minuto claim the Arsenal boss has seen a £20m offer for Slimani rejected by Sporting Lisbon.
Its believed that Arsenal is not the only club interested in the young man, as report says that Liverpool have also seen a similar offer rejected with Sporting insisting on £24m release clause, which is expected to expires on June 30th.
