After having been told by Jamie Vardy to wait till the end of the European Championship, Arsenal have moved on to other targets. Top European Football analyst Tancredi Palmeri has reported that Arsenal have lodged a bid of £25 million for Leicester City’s outstanding winger Riyad Mahrez who had an exceptional season with the Midland club last campaign.
Mahrez was voted the PFA Player of the Year award after scoring 17 goals and recording 10 assists in the Premier League. According to Palmeri, “Arsenal have bid €32 million (£25 million) for Mahrez. Arsenal, before bidding for Mahrez, had several meetings with the player’s entourage and the player is open for moving.”
Mahrez was a £400,000 2014 winter signing from Le’ Havre in the French Ligue 2 before going on to help Leicester win promotion to the Premiership in the summer of 2014 under Nigel Pearson.
The Algerian winger is the best player in his position in the Premier League with his eye for goal and neat passing exceptionally setting him apart from his peers. It is highly unlikely Mahrez will be sold this summer by Leicester as his team mate Jamie Vardy is a more likely signing for the Gunners in the summer.
