Reports from the German media today suggest Arsenal could be close to the signing of their second summer signing in Wolfsburg and German international Julian Draxler. Draxler has also been linked with a move to Manchester United but the Red devils are unlikely to sign Draxler once Mkhitaryan deal has been finalised.
New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been busy in the transfer market this summer after being confirmed as Louis van Gaal’s replacement last month. The Portugese has already splashed out cash on Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly as he looks to build a strong squad ahead of next season capable of challenging for trophies.
Mourinho is also understood to be on the lookout for a wide attacking midfielder and he has been reportedly linked with a move for Armenian international Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
It’s thought that German side Borussia Dortmund are reluctnant to cash-in on the 27-year-old, report from British tabloid Daily mail claim that Manchester United have now turned their attention to Julian Draxler and have tabled a £30m bid after holding talks with Wolfsburg officials last week.
Report suggests that the Dortmund have made it clear they want to keep hold of Draxler, but may be forced to sell if Draxler makes it clear he wants to leave for Old Trafford.
He scored 9 goals and provided 8 assists in his 35 games for Wolfsburg and is part of the German Euro 2016 squad where he’s started in two out of their three group games en route to the last 16.
Should United eventually sign Mkhitaryan, they are unlikely to want Draxler as well which means Arsenal can get him. Reports from German claim Arsenal are the most likely club to sign the former Schalke 04 player if United gets Mkhitaryan.
