Jack Wilshere could return for Arsenal against Doncaster in the Carabao Cup….

That’s according to The S*n, who claim that the midfielder could return to first team action against the League 1 side in the Carabao Cup.

Wilshere returned to Arsenal after a season-long loan at Bournemouth and missed pre-season due to a leg fracture he suffered in April.

He’s been building up his fitness and could soon get his first minutes in the Arsenal first team since August last year.

Wilshere had an interesting transfer window. Arsenal were willing to let him leave, but didn’t receive a satisfactory offer.

There was interest from the likes of West Ham, Sampdoria, Antalyaspor, Zenit St. Petursburg, Real Betis and Birmingham, but none of them could agree a deal with Arsenal.

That resulted in Wilshere staying at the club and playing for the u23s while he built-up his fitness.

That went well enough until a game against Manchester City, where he was sent off for pushing over a City player.

While the incident was described as the “lowest of his career” by some hyperbolic pundits, Arsene Wenger remains positive about him and opened the door for him to return to the team.

He’s been included as part of the club’s Europa League squad and also has a chance to be involved against Koln on Thursday.
