Midfielder Confirms He Is Ready To Take A Pay Cut To Join Arsenal


If quotes attributed to Olympic Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas are true, experience France Midfielder Yoann Gourcuff may be willing to take a pay cut in order to sign for Arsenal. Gourcuff has struggled with poor form series of injuries ever since he made his £19m transfer from another French club Bordeaux in 2010..

According to reports, Gourcuff is currently one of the highest earners in the French ligue with a wage reported close to 350,000 Francs per month. Although there are couple of French clubs interested in the service of the midfielder but Aulas has insisted selling the midfielder to another French club is not an option for Lyon.

“Can you see us paying part of his salary for him to play against us with another French club? We’ve never considered that and it would even more stupid now than it was a fortnight ago,” Aulas told OL.

“All that I know, if I understood correctly, is that he was ready to lower his salary to go to Arsenal, but that’s not the same thing.”

Gourcuff played a total of 19 games for Lyon last season in all competition scoring 3 goals along the line and making 7 assists for his team mates.
