Mesut Ozil will become Arsenal’s leader and captain with time according to his former national team manager Juergen Klinsmann. Ozil who signed for Arsenal in a deal said to be worth 42.5 million pounds has been tipped for great things by many of his former team mates and national team mates alike but in a new twist, former German international Juergen Klinsmann has claim the midfielder has the abilities to one day become a leader figure for the Arsenal team.
“Arsenal is one of the best 11, 12 teams in Europe and now he gets the chance to take responsibility,” the former Tottenham star told Die Welt.
“At Real, it was so that [Sergio] Ramos and [Cristiano] Ronaldo called the shots. Now Mesut can assume such a role in London. He is now catapulted into the role of a leader.
“Ozil has learned a lot in recent years of being a big fish in the Madrid shark tank. He now takes this experience with him and that’s great for Arsenal, Mesut and for Germany.”
In other news, Mesut Ozil will be starting his first match for Arsenal when they take on Sunderland away from home this weekend. The SUN newspaper reports that the German has been told he is to make a start for the gunners this weekend instead of starting from the bench as the gunners continue to sweat over injuries to key players.
