Carlo Ancelotti has continued the war between Real Madrid and Mesut Özil after he revealed the German never spoke to him about his situation at the club.
The 24-year old completed a £42.4 million to Arsenal on deadline day in a move that shocked the footballing world. Fans and players have questioned Madrid’s motives behind the sale, which has drawn negativity towards the German from the Spanish city.
Florentino Perez was accused of calling the midfielder ‘unprofessional’ with an ‘addiction to girls and night life’ but the club issued a statement denying Perez made such comments. Assistant coach Zinedine Zidane declared Özil was scared for his position at the club and opted for the easy way to join Arsenal rather than fight for his place at the Bernabeu.
In his defence, Özil stated Wenger showed a lot of faith in him which Ancelotti didn’t and he wanted to feel important. However, Ancelotti has turned up the heat once again after revealing the German never once spoke with him regarding his feelings.
“Özil preferred to leave. He said he left the club because he didn’t feel trust. But he never came to talk to me. Before the international break we played three matches, he played two in the starting XI and he didn’t play the last one because of transfer rumours.”
The fall out of Özil and Madrid shows no signs of slowing down but all the midfielder can do is concentrate on his football with new club Arsenal while Madrid do the same.
