Summer signing Mesut Özil has revealed his love for Arsenal. The midfielder has played a vital role since his arrival and he admitted he is loving every second.
The German received criticism for his performance against Marseille in the Champions League in which he missed a penalty. He still got the assist that effectively killed the game.
After many thought he may have dropped to the bench, Wenger decided to start with Özil and it was a decision that proved a masterstroke as the German provided assists for both Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini before his replacement Theo Walcott set up Ramsey for his second.
He finished the game with a 94% pass completion rate; the highest of any midfielder on the pitch and his assists put him at the top of the Premier League leader board. He created four chances throughout the game and provided the Cardiff defence with a constant menace.
After the game he took to Twitter to display his delight at the victory and his love for the club.
‘3:0 away. What a game. I love this team and this Club. #premierleague #arsenalfc.’
The feeling is most definitely mutual. The feeling around the Emirates was pure negativity before Özil’s arrival. The signings of Yaya Sanogo & Mathieu Flamini did little to ease the desires of the Arsenal supporters and the opening day loss to Aston Villa did no favours.
Deadline day changed everything with the link of Özil revealed early but it wasn’t confirmed until late at night but since then the feelings have changed. The Gunners now sit seven points clear at the top of the Premier League and are close to the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
