Arsenal seem to be a club that enjoy doing their deals secretly and while everyone is focused on the Jamie Vardy to Arsenal news, the club has moved behind the scene to complete yet another transfer deal while they wait on Jamie Vardy to be decisive.
Arsenal fans will recall that immediately after the FIFA under 17 world cup, highly rated Nigeria midfielder Kelechi Nwakali was linked with a move to Arsenal. Tottenham, Liverpool, Porto and Udinese were also linked with the signing of the FIFA under 17 world cup winner but according to the player’s agent, his client has agreed to sign for Arsenal and the deal will become official soon.
“Arsenal gave Kelechi permission to come for international duty. I have spoken to Arsenal and they have been asking me when he’s going to return,” Allwell Nwakali told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“As soon as he is free he will go back to Arsenal, June 5th he will be 18 and become an Arsenal player officially. Arsenal only gave him a pre-contract.”
This tallies with various reports in the Nigerian media. Nwakali will be expected to undergo pre-season with Arsenal in July and considering his quality, there is a chance that he could stake a claim for a place on Arsenal’s bench next season.
The Nigerian was by miles the best player at the 2015 under 17 world cup and he certainly has a future in the beautiful game. He only needs to keep his head down and hope injuries doesn’t ruin him. Under Wenger, he has a chance of becoming one of the best players in the world. The talent is already there. Certainly.
