Arsenal and England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly set to turn down interest from Liverpool this summer and extend his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

According to the Mirror, Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to sign a deal worth £100k-a-week to stay at Arsenal but will want assurances of first-team football given he was in and out of the side in 2017/18. Although the 23-year-old made 29 Premier League appearances this season, just 16 of them were starts. He ended the term playing second fiddle to Hector Bellerin too.

Manager Arsene Wenger made it clear he much he wanted to keep the former Southampton man at the club this summer, and Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp is just as keen to have Oxlade-Chamberlain at Anfield. An industrious player capable of playing in a variety of positions, while boasting outstanding dribbling capability to turn defence into attack, it’s not hard to see why the Ox is being courted by the Reds.

He’s successful been deployed and left and right wing-back, central midfield and on either flank and can still improve too. Arsenal have a number of players’ futures to hash out, but Oxlade-Chamberlain being close to committing his future in the form of a long-term deal is one problem solved. Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are next on Wenger’s to-do list.
