According to reports, Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Inter Milan’s Jeison Murillo and in fact a medical will take place on Monday. Milan on their part are reportedly interested in signing Ezequiel Garay amid rumours that Jeison Murillo could leave the club for Arsenal.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is known to be on the look out for a new centre-back this summer, with ageing Per Matersacker and Laurent Koscienly having few years left at Arsenal.
Report from Italy claimed recently that Arsenal have put the 24-year-old Colombia international Murillo on their radar. According to Tuttosport, Inter Milan are preparing for life without the defender as they seek for a replacement in Ezequiel Garay.
Earlier reports had that the Inter Milan have offered Murillo to Russian side Zenit Saint Petersburg and are eyeing a swoop for Argentine star Ezequiel Garay in return but it appears rather than Zenith, it will be Arsenal that will sign the player. The lure of Champions League football, which both Inter and Zenith do not have to offer, has helped Arsenal in the attempt to sign the Argentine.
It’s been reported that Zenit boss Mircea Lucescu is said to be unsure over the deal for Jeison Murillo and the player himself is more keen on Arsenal’s reported interest.
The central defender has been impressing in Russia since moving there from Benfica in the summer of 2014. The Argentina international has made 70 appearances in two seasons to become a regular of the Zenit team.
