Arsenal is set to announce the capture of Nigerian Wonderkid Kelechi Nwakali after the Nigeria national under-17 football team player turned eighteen last week.
The Nigerian teenager Kelechi Nwakali is expected to formalise his transfer to Arsenal from his country’s Diamond Academy, says The Sun. The Nigerian wonderkid was player of the competition as Nigeria national under-17 football team lifted the Under-17 World Cup in Chile last year.
The youngster, after the youth tournament reached an agreement to move to Arsenal. The North London club had to wrestle with Manchester City and Bayern Munich for the signature of Kelechi. Kelechi Nwakali turned 18years old last weekend, and can play up front and in an attacking midfield role.
The Sun report Arsenal is expected to pay £3 million for his signature
Nwakali in his words said,
“I just came back from London, I have signed a five-year contract with Arsenal,”.
“So many teams were interested in me but it has been my dream at a tender age to play for Arsenal.”
Nwakali had agreed to sign for Arsenal, but there had been no official announcement from the club, and that is now expected to materialise this week, reported The Mirror
It was revealed that Nwankwo Kanu brokered Kelechi Nwakali’s transfer to Arsenal. Kanu may have left Arsenal 12 years ago but he’s been revealed as a key figure in Arsenal’s recent negotiations with Kelechi Nwakali.
