Having completed two major signings so far this summer, Arsenal are said to be on the verge of completing yet another summer transfer deal. If you believe a reported by Sky Italian, a media outlet own by Skysports, Arsenal and AS Roma have reached an agreement and it is only a matter of days before Wojciech Szczesny joins them for yet another season long loan deal. But unlike the last time, the Italians will bear the burden of Wojciech Szczesny’s wages and they will have an option of turning the deal into a permanent one.
Szczesny who was Arsenal’s first choice for the three years before last season spent last season on loan in Italy after Arsenal signed Petr Cech from Chelsea in a deal said to be worth 10 million. With Roma this time negotiating an option to buy, it appears Szczesny doesn’t see himself returning back to Arsenal as the Italians won’t have negotiated the option to buy without his permission.
And with Ospina almost the same age with Wojciech Szczesny and Petr Cech still looking like he will be around for at least four more years, I think it is best to let the Poland international go. He is no doubt a good keeper, but let’s face it, he is unlikely to fulfill his potential based on the fact that he doesn’t seem to be able to keep his head down or get out of trouble.
