Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel has confirmed that Liverpool and Arsenal target Max Meyer will not be in attendance for the final game of the season.
The 22-year-old midfielder had a major fall-out with the club over signing a new contract and he is set to leave the Ruhr giants in the summer once his current deal expires.
Amidst a torrent of allegations and counter allegations, Schalke lost patience with the midfielder’s claims of being bullied and they suspended the midfielder.
Meyer went for an early holiday before even the season ended and while the Schalke fans are preparing to bid farewell to departing stars such as Leon Goretzka and Marko Pjaca, Meyer won’t be in attendance for the final game of the season against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Heidel revealed that it is an understanding that they reached with the player as they believe the midfielder needed to switch off after a turbulent few months.
“It’s all agreed between us”, the Schalke sporting director told Bild.
“He is on vacation and should switch off the after the turbulent period.”
Meyer has been linked with a move to England with Arsenal and Liverpool believed to be interested and his agent is also believed to be in talks with Hoffenheim.
