As Arsenal face down the barrel of their own injury crisis so Tottenham have decided to have one of their own, aided by Eric Dier’s dodgy appendix that had to be removed.

There must be something in the air these days.

While it is rare of a person over 30 to be diagnosed with appendicitis, my mum was recently rushed to hospital with hers perforated. Following that, I heard of a few others who had also needed to have their appendix removed, all above the ‘threshold’ age of 30.

Step forward Eric Dier who, while still only 24, would still be considered ‘old’ when it comes to getting appendicitis which is very much a young person’s game.

The Tottenham midfielder was complaining about pains in his stomach on Friday before being rushed to A&E for an emergency appendectomy just hours after they lucked their way past Burnley at the weekend. I’ve also had mine out (when I was 15), and it’s sore as f**k to recover from because every time you move, laugh or cough you move the muscles that the surgeon has sliced through.

In addition, midfielders Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele are also out for Tottenham.

Spurs will also be without centre-halves Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth while Jan Vertonghen missed the Burnley game with a thigh injury.
