Both clubs confirmed a strong interest in FC Basel defender Fabian Schar but are also very keen on Martin Hinteregger of Red Bull Salzburg. The 21-year old has been racking up interest after a string of impressive performances which has also seen him picked by Austria, although he is yet to earn his first cap.
He is a versatile player who can play both centre-back and left-back with a range of passing skills. Although not known for his goals, he scored an almost impossible goal in a friendly against Schalke in the summer from 70 yards.
It can be argued that Arsenal would benefit more from the signing of Hinteregger with injuries and lack of options compared to Juventus but such is his talent that the Serie A champions do not want to let him pass by.
Salzburg are in no position to sell however with the player tied down to the club until 2018 meaning clubs will have to fork out to sign the defender.
