Another striker seems to have been added to Arsenal’s wishlist. According to SportsDirectNews, City’s Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko is open to a move away from Etihad. A source close to the player said: “Edin is a popular guy at the club but almost all of his time at City has been plagued by uncertainty.
“It was a nightmare under Roberto Mancini but things were looking up when Manuel Pellegrini took over and started Edin in the first couple of games.”
SportsDirectNews went further to claim that Arsenal have made contact with the player’s agent recent and are encouraged by the response and are considering making a move for the player once the January transfer window is declared open.
Arsenal have been previously linked with a move tor Dzeko, while he was at Wolfsburg and even last winter window but an official bid never materialized. Now that he has fallen further down the pecking order and going in to a World Cup year, it might just be the perfect time to land him.
Dzeko is a decent striker but is he what we need? He is just like Giroud, route one stiker. What Arsenal need is a versatile striker, who can play as a lone center forward and also on the wings. Dzeko and Giroud can only play as a center forward puts them in direct competition which just might not augur well for Arsenal’s top targets this seaon.
I also do not think he will want to leave Manchester City to sit on the bench at Arsenal and that is likely to happen if he joins as I do not think he and Giroud can play together at the same time.
