Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has revealed that the Gunners were inspired to victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday by manager Unai Emery.
The pulsating north London derby at the Emirates Stadium had six goals in total, with Arsenal emerging as 4-2 winners.
Torreira sealed the win with the fourth goal for Arsenal, coolly slotting the ball beyond Hugo Lloris after being sent through on goal by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored twice.
The Uruguay international was named as the Man of the Match for an incredible performance in midfield, but he has praised Emery for his halftime motivation.
As quoted on ESPN, Torreira said:
[Emery told us] to be calm, to continue playing because there were 45 more minutes left, that we keep attacking because obviously in the second half we were going to find more spaces. In fact, it happened and we scored the goals at key moments.
In the second half, we made some changes. The players who came on from the bench did very well. We listened to the manager and we improved many things. That worked for us to get the victory.
Arsenal have earned a reputation this season for being very strong in the second half of matches and this was the case once again as they blew Spurs away in the second 45 minutes.
