Thierry Henry is hoping to see Arsenal strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window
Thierry Henry says he is hoping to see Arsenal sign a number of top players this summer – but insists he won’t hold his breath.
Arsene Wenger committed his future to the north London club on Wednesday by signing a new two-year contract with the Gunners to keep him at The Emirates until the summer of 2019 at the earliest.
Arsenal finished fifth and missed out on Champions League qualification and attentions will now inevitably turn towards the summer transfer window and the players Wenger could look to bring in.
Wenger himself said on Wednesday that he was only interested in signing “top quality” players as he looks to build a squad capable of winning the title next season.
And Arsenal legend Henry admits that he would not be surprised if the Gunners did not end up being that busy in the summer transfer window.
Henry told Sky Sports: “I can only go with what Wenger is saying. He says the team is good enough.
“He might buy one or two players having, as he’s claimed, created a dynamic to win the title finally. But I’ve heard that before, and the year before, and the year before.
“Hopefully a change in system might be the thing that helps them win the title next year.”
Arsenal ended the season on a high by beating Chelsea to win the FA Cup on Saturday.
