According to Marca, Barcelona’s impending purchase of Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti, could have knock on effects for several English Premier League clubs chasing Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon.
Samuel Umtiti showed his potential by scoring a sensational strike from left back in a 2-1 defeat to Spurs in 2013. Since then, Umtiti has proved himself by playing 170 games at Lyon, having settled in a central defensive position
Now that Umtiti is heading to the Nou Camp, where he is sure to make himself a star in the future and for big money too, as Marca is quoting a figure of €30 million for the player.
His imminent transfer could leave Lyon flush with cash to strengthen their squad this summer. Lyon finished second to PSG for the second successive season, and will be eager to try and bridge the gap to the freespending siden by spending big them self.
Umti imminent departure will mean the club will not be under any pressure to sell star-striker Alexandre Lacazette, a player who has been eyed by several clubs including Arsenal.
This will come as a bad news for Arsenal, who is looking to sign a striker this summer, after a failed attempt to lure England striker Jamie Vardy to the Emirate.
Arsenal has broken their transfer record when recruiting proven international players from Real Madrid and Barcelona. Signing a player that is not yet established himself in his international squad may represent too big a risk for Arsene Wenger to sign.
