Tottenham and Everton have joined Arsenal in the race for 17-year-old centre-forward Jann-Fiete Arp, with Chelsea and Manchester City also reportedly interested.
The Mirror write that Spurs and Everton are both following the player, with Arp admitting that his role model is Harry Kane.
“There are many good strikers that you can learn a lot from by watching. But if there was just one player I had to pick as my role model, it’s Harry Kane,” he said.
The youngster made his debut for Hamburg in the Bundesliga this season. In similar fashion to Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, Arp’s first appearance only lasted a minute, but his second brought his first senior goal.
Now he’s become a regular in the Hamburg starting line-up, and has two goals in eight games, as well as seven in three games for the u19s.
The Mirror also reported that Chelsea tried to sign the youngster in the summer. They were unsuccessful as the striker believed he would have more of a chance of playing time with Hamburg.
Arsenal have a great record for giving minutes to academy graduates, so that could help swing the balance in favour of the Gunners if a move is highly dependent on playing time.
