Arsenal will in the next few hours announce the signing of Jamie vardy from Leicester City according to various reports from the British media. Leicester City manager had confirmed the reports linking the player to Arsenal. When asked by Italian Publication, Gazzetta dello Sport whether the reports that Arsenal have activated the release clause of the player is true, Ranieri was quoted as saying “Yes, it’s all true.”
Having scored 24 goals in the Premier League last season, Vardy will reportedly sign a four years contract at Arsenal worth £120,000-a-week which will be double of his current deal at Leicester City.
Leicester City are said to be working round the clock to ensure the keep the player but Daily Mirror and many other reports claim Vardy is keen on moving to Arsenal and with the Gunners activating his release clause, Leicester have absolutely no choice to let him go.
He will reportedly undergo a medical at Arsenal today and the deal is likely to be made official later today as well. The Englishman will be Arsenal’s second summer signing. Should the deal go through for the quoted £20 million release clause, Arsenal’s summer spending will now be about £50 million and this is despite the fact that the summer transfer window is not already officially opened.
