Ian Wright has reacted positively to Arsenal ‘s win over Cardiff despite signs of fragility in Unai Emery’s side.
The Gunners legend admitted he was impressed with Alexandre Lacazette’s performance, with the Frenchman’s winner confirming back-to-back wins.
Wright was concerned about the side’s organisation though, but has now called on Emery to start Lucas Torreira after beginning the season on the bench following his £26m move from Sampdoria.
“Three points. Lacazette’s goals and movement great,” Wright said. “But still totally disorganized in a few areas.
“Time for Torreria to start. Lots to work on but let’s keep it moving.”
Torreira will likely come in for Granit Xhaka or Matteo Guendouzi, who he replaced with 20 minutes remaining at the Cardiff City Stadium.
There is considerable pressure on Xhaka to deliver now, after entering his third season since joining for more than £30m and penning a new long-term deal this summer.
Emery now has six points on the board heading into the international break, with Newcastle away up next.
Then Arsenal’s Europa League campaign begins, with a home game against Vorskla – and after discarding Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil already this term, we can expect the Spaniard to shake up his line-up even more in the weeks ahead.
