Hector Bellerin, who has been linked with a move back to Barcelona, has revealed the reason why he chose to remain at Arsenal, and won’t return to his boyhood club Barcelona, despite the Catalans confirming the departure of Dan Alves.
Barcelona confirmed the departure of Brazilian star defender Dan Alves and have identified former youth player Bellerin as a perfect replacement for the departing 33-year old full-back.
According to the report, Barcelona technical director Robert Fernandez has spoken to 21-year-old Bellerin about returning to the club.
Fernandez is tasked with getting a replacement for the Brazilian, who is set to sign a deal with Juventus.
The Brazil international is reportedly set to join on a free transfer, leaving Douglas as their only natural right-back at the club, but the Spaniard has since snubbed a return to Barcelona.
Bellerin, who joined Arsenal from Barcelona’s La Masia academy in 2013, has insists he is happy in north London.
Now the La Liga champions have been handed a transfer blow after Bellerin revealed his desire to remain at Arsenal.
He said, “I am very happy at Arsenal.
“I renewed last year and have many years left. I am very happy. In football, you can always spend a lot, but I’m in the Arsenal, giving everything for the club.
“I do not think about going to anywhere else.”
