Mo Farah has taken Arsenal’s transfer dealings in to his own hands after the revealed he has been tweeting Wayne Rooney to persuade him to join Arsenal.
The England star has told Manchester United that he wants to leave but so far David Moyes has refused to sell the striker, insisting he will stay at the club beyond the transfer window.
Arsenal and Chelsea both have a strong interest in the striker with the Blues recently having a £30 million offer turned down for the forward. Rooney himself is believed to have a preference to play under Jose Mourinho.
Farah, the 5,000m World Champion and double Olympic champion, is an Arsenal fan and has been frustrated by Arsenal’s lack of business this summer. He revealed that he has taken to social media website Twitter to try and convince Rooney to leave United for Arsenal. So far he hasn’t had much luck.
“I’ve been tweeting at him telling him to join us! If we get Rooney I’ll be happy with that.
“He hasn’t replied to me yet though. I’m waiting for him!”
