Arsenal have started preparation for their Premier League game against Liverpool and Wenger will be looking to come-off the game with the three points.
Danny Welbeck has revealed he used to ‘hate’ his Arsenal teammate Kieran Gibbs back when he was making his breakthrough at Manchester United.
The 26-year-old joined forces with Gibbs when he swapped Old Trafford for the Emirates Stadium in August 2014 and has since gone on to forge a great friendship with his fellow England international.
But Welbeck’s first recollections of Gibbs, when the pair went head-to-head in a FA Youth Cup semi final back in 2007, were far from pleasant.
‘It was the first time we prepared like it was a first team match,’ said Welbeck of a tie his goal helped settled 4-3 on aggregate in Manchester United’s favour.
‘It was a special moment. Obviously me and Gibbo are very close friends now but back then I used to hate him to be honest.
‘He was bigger than me, faster than me, he was so strong and I was like ‘what is this guy about?’
‘He scored the first goal at the Emirates. The second leg was at Old Trafford and I scored the winner to knock Arsenal out.’
