If a report by the TIMES is anything to go by, Riyad Mahrez is set to join Arsenal this summer after rejecting the offer of a new contract from Leicester City. The Algerian had a great season with Leicester City in the just concluded 2015/2016 season. He scored 11 goals and created 17 assists as Leicester City ran away as winners of the Premier League ahead of Arsenal who finished second, 10 points behind.
With Jamie Vardy looking like he will be going to Arsenal, Leicester City know they face a massive chance of losing the bulk of their title winning side this summer. Kante who was also key for Leicester City last season looks like he is on his way to PSG as well. And now Mahrez.
It appears the Foxes will be torn apart and if we, Arsenal, get two of their players, it will make a lot of sense. Mahrez according to the report byt the TIMES has told friends and those close to him that he will be signing for Arsenal. And this is despite the reported interest of PSG in the player.
His signing, if it happens, will be massive boost to Arsenal. He will not only be a reliable replacement for Walcott on the right wing, he will also be a very capable option to Mesut Ozil in the middle whenever Wenger wants to rotate or Ozil is injuried. He is reportedly available for £30 million which makes it even sweeter considering the price that is been paid for other players who are not even of the same standard with the African.
