Hirving Lozano says he hopes to play for PSV Eindhoven for years, after Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing the Mexican forward.
Spanish newspaper Marca are claiming the Gunners are chasing Lozano, despite the Mexican only moving to PSV Eindhoven over the summer, according to latest reports.
Lozano was asked about rumours of an early departure, and responded: “How long do I play at PSV? I do not know that. I am now 100 per cent focused on the team and hope to play for years. PSV is a beautiful club with fantastic people.”
Gunners scout Steve Rowley has been watching the player this season, and it’s believed Arsenal are ready to offer £22.4m in January.
After another goal against Heracles Almelo, Lozano now has seven in as many league games for his new side, as well as four assists. Considering he’s been making those appearances from the wing, both on the left and on the right, his goal contributions are all the more impressive.
The 22-year-old’s form for the national side is similarly impressive at the moment. In September, he scored the winner for Mexico against Panama. In early October, he came off the bench to equalise against Trinidad and Tobago, before Chicharito and Héctor Herrera won the game in the dying minutes.
Arsenal’s scouts will have to decide whether the player’s good form for club and country is worth the Gunners making a bid in January, although they’re likely to be met with some resistance as he’s only been with the Dutch Eredivisie side since July.
