Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a bid for highly-rated Genk midfielder Sander Berge and could make an official approach for the teenager after having scouted him for months.
According to the Mirror, the Gunners are competing with Everton, Spanish La Liga side Sevilla and French Ligue 1 outfit Monaco for the signature of the 18-year-old, who has an asking price of around £18m.
Berge is a defensive midfielder and is believed to have watched by Arsenal for a number of months. His arrival could see the likes of Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny forced out of the club given their lack of playing time in the second half of last season.
The Genk star, who made 27 appearances in all competitions in 2016/17, is contracted until 2021. He only joined the Belgian outfit in January 2017 from Valerenga and was nearly an Everton player last season when the Toffees made an approach.
However, Arsenal’s impressive track record with youngsters, coupled with their need for a talented holding-midfielder, could see the Gunners make Berge theirs this summer.
