If reports in the British media is anything to go by, Arsenal may be close to their second signing of the summer. According to the Metro, Arsenal have been given the greenlight to complete the signing of Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez after the Gunners triggered his £19m release clause.
The Switzerland international has made it clear he wants to leave the German club this summer and according to Metro, Wolfsburg have resigned themselves to losing his services this summer.
Speaking in regards to a move to Arsenal recently, Rodriguez was quoted to have said; “That would be exciting, yes, especially because the room arrangement at Arsenal would be fixed as well.” He was asked if he will like to share a room with his national team mate Granit Xhaka at Arsenal.
Rodriguez is said to be frustrated with life at the German club especially as they have not made it into the Champions League places for next season after finishing a disappointing eight in the league.
Real Madrid have also been linked with the signing of the player but it seems Los Blancos are more interested in signing David Alaba from Bayern Munich.
If Rodriguez joins Arsenal, it will be interesting to see what becomes of Kieran Gibbs whose place will become surplus to requirement.
