Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are currently considering making a bid for Wolfsburg’s Julien Draxler who was only signed from Schalke 04 last season for £25.5 million according to German news outlet Bild.
Draxler is currently a regular starter for the German national team at the European Tournament in France. The attacking midfielder was heavily linked with Juventus and Arsenal last year before he signed for Wolfsburg after the German side sold Belgian Kelvin De Bruyne to Manchester City.
Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of Draxler and might try to see if he can succeed to sign the player who as recent as last year signed a five year deal with Wolfsburg. It is still too early to conclude if the signing will fall through but
one thing is for sure and that is that Draxler will not come cheap as Wolfsburg will try to recoup as much money from his sale as they can.
The effects of Manchester United’s signing of Draxler will have on Arsenal is that it will make the North London club favourites to sign chase Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan who is unlikely to extend his one year contract with Dortmund anytime soon. This is because Manchester United would not be able to economically sign both stars as regards to the Financial Fair Play which would cost the North West club a great deal of money as both midfielders would only be signed with a fee that might be expensive for the club.
Arsenal are in the running to sign Mkhitaryan for some time now and believe he is the missing jigsaw in their attack. The fans of the club would be overjoyed with the reports linking Manchester United’s with Julien Draxler as this will present them with the opportunity to finalise the deal for the Armenian.
