Gilberto cannot wait to pull on the Arsenal shirt again this Saturday when our legends side face Real Madrid at Emirates Stadium.
The former Brazil international hung up his boots three years ago, and he cannot wait to experience a match day again.
“It’s always nice to be back at the Arsenal, it doesn’t matter the circumstances, I really enjoy still being connected with Arsenal,” Gilberto told Arsenal Player.
“It’s a great feeling and I feel home and very comfortable to come back. Although things have changed with players and some of the people that have joined the club, for me these are not the main points, the point is the great atmosphere.
“To have the opportunity to see ex-teammates is always fun and always a great feeling, because you start to have a nice conversation and go back in time a little and have some fun.
“Of course, [the camerarderie] is one thing that I really miss. You wake up in the morning and go for a training session with the group and this is one thing that I miss.
“But you have to understand that everything has change and in the beginning it’s quite hard to adapt to it, but then you start to do some other things and it won’t be the same. It will never be the same, but you fill your time and you spend time doing other things and challenge yourself all the time.
“For me now for example, this course programme is a big challenge. After such a long time I’ve gone back to school for education to challenge myself for things. I’ve never had this experience before, but it’s been good and it’s all about how much we enjoy these things.”
