It’s no more news that Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger is a big admirer of Jamie Vardy’s talent, and would do everything possible to capture him, even if he has to pay more that the release clause.
The French manager would like to bring him to Arsenal to fortify his squad against next season, as he look to build a formidable quad, strong enough to challenge for silverwares.
His love for Vardy could make him willing to pay the full 38 million release clause. This will not go down well with some Arsenal fans who believd that Wenger should not spend that much on a striker who only had a good season. Some are of the opinion that he should rather spend 50 million plus on a proven tested-and-trusted striker like former Real Madrid man Gonzalo Higuain.
It was reported earlier this month that Arsenal triggered the £20m release clause in Vardy’s contract at Leicester City.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the player was offered a deal worth over £100,000-per-week by the Gunners, who expected the move to have been completed before the start of the on-going European championship.
The England striker could have signed a deal before flying with his National team to France for the summer tournament but has opted to delay his decision until after the European Championship.
This operation is not a done deal yet, the only thing missing is the striker’s consensus, and without Vardy’s blessing the release clause is irrelevant.
But at the moment, the player wants to concentrate with Euro 2016 and end it before making a decision.
