Serge Gnabry could be a shock inclusion in Germany’s World Cup after impressing Joachim Low. The Germany manager admitted he had been monitoring the youngster since breaking in to the Arsenal squad.
Low has been watching Arsenal more recently after Mesut Özil joined Per Mertesacker & Lukas Podolski at the Emirates this summer but got more than he bargained for when he watched the Gunners take on Stoke City with Gnabry thrown in to the first team after an abdominal injury forced Theo Walcott to withdraw.
Gnabry took his chance well and started the following two games against West Brom & Swansea, scoring his first goal against the Welsh side in a 2-1 Arsenal victory. After breaking in to the Gunners team, Low has admitted he is in with a shout of making next summers World Cup.
“The boy is really good. He has exceptional qualities.”
“I’m still open to him making the World Cup. We have an eye on him.”
That will be plenty of encouragement for Gnabry to continue his progress at Arsenal. He will have plenty of chances to show his talent with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out until January and will need to impress in his performances with places in the Germany squad rife.
Players like Marco Reus, Andre Schurrle & even Podolski are not guaranteed a place in the squad and so Gnabry will have to prove he is worth taking over all the other talented Germans.
