Several players are running out of contract at Arsenal, this leaves Wenger with a huge task of ensuring they sign.
Mesut Ozil has opened the possibility to staying at Arsenal, regardless of Arsene Wenger’s future at the club.
The Germany international had previously hinted that he would leave the Emirates should the French tactician depart but he now seems willing to extend his stay.
Both men’s futures are in major doubt, with Wenger under serious pressure after a 10-2 Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich, while also not mounting a title challenge.
Ozil’s contract expires at the end of next season and there’s also talk of his exit as his future remains so uncertain.
But Ozil has given the strongest indication yet he will be at the Emirates next season.
‘I’ve always said that I feel at Arsenal: the club, the fans, the city – it’s all here,’ he told Bild.
‘Arsène Wenger was also one of the main reasons why I came to Arsenal.
‘But I also know that it can sometimes go fast in football and much different than you plan.
‘So it would be wrong to say that my future depends only on the coach.’
