Djibril Sidibe has signed a new contract at Monaco to keep him with the Ligue 1 champions until 2022, the club confirmed on Thursday.
The defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with both Arsenaland Spurs said to be interested in his services, but he has firmly shut down that speculation for another summer at least after committing his future.
And the French giants will hope that Sidibe’s new contract will encourage his teammates to strike similar deals.
Arsenal are said to still be chasing both Lemar and Mbappe this summer, as Arsene Wenger has identified Lemar as his top priority now that Alexandre Lacazette has arrived for a club record fee from Lyon.
As for Spurs, they have apparently reached an agreement with Manchester City for the £50m transfer of Kyle Walker – and so they will presumably be disappointed to see Sidibe take himself off the market.
