Valencia have announced they have signed Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista on a five-year deal that will run until June 2022.
The Spanish side have reportedly paid in the region of £10m to sign the Brazilian and have included a release clause of €80m (£73.1m) in his contract.
Gabriel left Villarreal to join Arsenal in January 2015 but struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular during that period.
The emergence of Rob Holding, coupled with the return to fitness of Per Mertesacker has led Gabriel to return to Spain where he will reunite with Valencia head coach Marcelino.
Gabriel worked under Marcelino at Villarreal before moving to England and will now compete for a starting berth at the Mestalla, with Inter defender Jeison Murillo also on the verge of signing for Los Che.
During his time at Arsenal, the Gunners actually won a greater percentage of their Premier League matches with Gabriel in the starting XI (62.2%) compared to when the fiery Brazilian was not picked (57.6%).
