Arsenal defender, Carl Jenkinson says although he would be in an awkward position while donning the colours of England (U21), his side would need to take their Finnish counterparts very seriously.
Both sides meet tonight in a Euro U21 Group 1 Qualifier, with the Gunners fullback opting to represent the English side, despite playing for the Finnish U-19 and U21 sides earlier in his career.
Jenkinson, who enjoys Finnish citizenship thanks to his mother is now fully focused on helping the England U21 team overcome tonight’s famous opponents.
“It will be strange for me, but I know it’s a game that we can’t take lightly because they have some talented players”, the 21-year old told theFA.com.
“They are a very hard working side and I know they’ll be more than up for playing against England.
“It will be a massive game for them and they’ll see it as an opportunity to impress, so we’ve got to be cautious of that and have got to be on our mettle if we want to come out on top.”
