If reports from the German media today are anything to go by, Arsenal will in a matter of days complete the signing of Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich. The German is said to be surplus to requirement at Bayern Munich and the Bavarians have reported
According to reports by El Mundo Deportivo, Bayern Munich have told Gotze he can leave the club and have made it clear to him that he will not be registered in Bayern’s Champions League squad which if true is a big indication that they truly want to get rid of him.
And if the report is true, it means the reports yesterday that Arsenal have had a bid accepted by Bayern Munich and all that’s left is for Arsenal to agree personal terms with the player.
And there is a real chance that the reports are true especially as it is also been reported by Kicker and SportBild, two of Germany’s most reliable media outlets.
It will be interesting if Arsenal ends up signing Gotze, and it will not be the first time we have been linked with his signing. However, hopefully by signing him, Wenger does not drop the idea of signing a striker. Gotze is certainly not a striker, yes, he can play the false nine role but like Arshavin, he could well flop in that position in the Premier League.
