In what is termed a proactive measure, Arsene Wenger is already preparing for life after Alexis Sanchez with the search for a deadly attacker.
Arsenal have opened early talks with Borussia Dortmund over a deal for Marco Reus,
Whoscored.com claim that Arsene Wenger is identifying possible replacements for Alexis Sanchez, who is yet to sign an extension to his current contract which expires in the summer of 2018.
And Reus is one of Arsenal’s top targets with the club prepared to pay £51 million for the Germany international in the summer.
The Gunners are also ready to offer the 27-year-old a contract worth £6.8m a year.
Reus, whose contract with Dortmund expires in 2019, has featured in only five Bundesliga games this season due to injury.
The midfielder was ruled out of Euro 2016 after suffering a torn adductor muscle last May.
Reus made his comeback at the end of November and was given the chance to recover even further due to the winter break in Germany.
