Arsenal could announce two exits today with David Ospina and Joel Campbell both in Italy undergoing medicals ahead of moves to Napoli and Frosinone, according to Football London.
Ospina has struggled to hold down a regular first team place since arriving from Nice four years ago and has been forced to play second fiddle to Petr Cech in recent seasons with the majority of his playing time coming in the cup competitions.
The Colombian international has fallen further down the pecking order following the arrival of Bernd Leno this summer so he’s been made available for transfer and a switch to Besiktas has been mooted in the media.
However, Football London claim Arsenal have now agreed a deal with Napoli that will see the Serie A giants pay an initial £900,000 to take Ospina on loan this season with the option to make the transfer permanent next summer for around £3m.
The report says the 29-year-old will undergo his medical in Italy today and unless there is a late hiccup, the deal is expected to be formally announced over the coming hours.
Ospina is set to be joined in Italy by Campbell as Football London says the attacker is also undergoing his medical today ahead of a permanent switch to Serie A newcomers Frosinone.
Campbell has failed to establish himself since joining Arsenal in 2011 and he’s been loaned out on six separate occasions with his most recent stint at Real Betis in Spain last season.
The 26-year-old has just one year left on his Arsenal contract and didn’t want to go out on loan again this season so he’s set to join Frosinone on a cut-price deal this summer.
The Costa Rican international was never really given a proper chance to make it at Arsenal but the coaching staff under Arsene Wenger and now Unai Emery obviously didn’t think he was good enough to make the grade.
