Arsenal could make a move for Caen winger Yann Karamoh after Inter Milan failed with a recent bid.
According to Calciomercato, the 19-year-old was the subject of a £5.4m approach from the Italian Serie A side but saw their bid rejected.
Arsenal and French outfit AS Saint-Etienne are the two clubs reported to have made greater bids for the teenager, but Inter was believed to be the preferred destination. However, the aforementioned suitors may now be in the frame to sign Karamoh unless Inter make a bid closer to his £7.25m asking price.
Karamoh’s contract with Caen will be up at the end of this season, meaning he can talk to clubs abroad in January. So if Inter can’t agree a deal this summer, they may have a pre-contract agreement in place at the turn of the year.
Their delay could be risky if Arsenal and Saint-Etienne push for an early move, however. Interest in Karamoh could be rife as his contract wears down, given the youngster scored and created 11 goals in 36 games in all competitions.
He made his debut for the French U21s this summer after featuring in a friendly against Albania in June. His future could well be bright at club and country level in the coming months.
