Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has claimed in an interview that he’s still watching closely the progress of Julian Draxler.
The Arsenal manager spoke to Japanese TV about Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, saying that a deal for the Leicester City striker looks to have hit the rocks, and also talked about his most loved young players.
It will be recalled that Arsenal triggered Jamie Vardy’s £20million release clause and are waiting for the striker to make a decision after the European championships where he is currently preparing to represent his National team.
Wenger is known for scouting for the best young talent around the World and giving young players a chance at Arsenal, and was asked about who he’s most impressed by at the moment.
As usual, Wenger showed a great love for the youngsters coming through in France, but also expressed an interest in Julian Draxler’s performances at this summer’s European Championships.
‘At the moment I think most of the young talented players are in France,’ he said.
‘We speak about (Anthony) Martial, we speak about (Kingsley) Coman, who are still about 20. And I’ve seen a very interesting young talent from Turkey – (Emre) Mor.
‘You have as well some other players like (Leroy) Sane in Germany. It will be very interesting as well to follow what Draxler is doing; he’s still a very young player.’
Arsenal was reportedly keen on signing Draxler while he was at his former club Schalke, but a deal was never sealed and he has since moved to German side Wolfsburg.
