Arsenal are set to make an offer for Leeds United 18-year-old Jack Clarke, joining Tottenham Hotspur in the race for the winger, according to reports.
Football Insider report that Arsenal are ‘keen to take advantage’ of the young star’s contract situation by making a formal offer for his services.
Clarke has a contract with Leeds until 2021, but his club don’t plan to open talks with him over an extension until the end of the season, at the earliest.
As it stands, Clarke is still on the same contract he signed when he first turned professional at 17.
At the time, that was probably a fair deal, but it’s a different story now he’s a first-team regular.
Clarke has made 13 appearances for the Championship leaders this season, scoring two goals and assisting two.
Though most of the winger’s appearances were from the bench, his performances have started to earn him starts.
He made the starting lineup for their last two games against Derby County and QPR, both top-half Championship teams.
Now, the player who only made his debut in October has drawn interest from Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City, with the first two set to make formal bids.
We’ll have to wait and see whether Leeds would consider selling for the right price.
