ARSENAL goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is set to join Reading on loan until the end of the season.

Martinez joined Arsenal’s academy as a teenager in 2010 and has had several loans at the likes of Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United and Wolves.

In 2016, the goalkeeper signed a new long-term deal to extend his stay in north London.

But the 26-year-old has been unable to breakthrough and become Arsenal’s number one.

Bernd Leno is currently the first choice keeper with Petr Cech the deputy.

Cech is set to retire at the end of the season which could mean Martinez moves up in the pecking order.

But for now, Martinez is set to spend the rest of the season at the Madjeski Stadium.

Martinez’s sports management agency Twenty Two Sports Management posted two videos of Martinez on their Instagram stories.

The first showed Martinez driving on the motorway and giving a thumbs up to the camera with the promise of “news soon”.

The next video was footage of the Madjeski and the caption “new house”.

And an announcement from Arsenal and Reading could come today.

Reading have been busy in the transfer market this month with four loan deals completed.

On Tuesday, Reading completed a deal for Norwich City’s Portugal international forward Nelson Oliveira.
